Jimmy Kimmel criticized President Donald Trump’s physical appearance during a segment that aired on Thursday. The host pointed out an apparent contradiction in the president’s behavior regarding his health and energy levels. This commentary occurred one week before the midterm elections, a contest that could result in a loss of congressional control for Trump’s party.
Kimmel played a video clip showing Trump responding to a reporter’s question about cancelling a scheduled rally in Kansas. The reporter asked if the cancellation was due to the president being tired of travel. Trump responded by calling the journalist a sick guy. He then pointed to the reporter’s physique, stating that the man was way out of shape.
The president added that the reporter looked like hell and told him to get in better condition. Kimmel responded by asking viewers to imagine Trump critiquing someone else’s body. The host suggested that the White House might lack mirrors. He joked that someone should take the president to the Reflecting Pool so he could see his own reflection.
The segment referenced two rallies that Trump cancelled for the upcoming weekend. Recent events have faced interruptions from hecklers, with one individual shouting that Trump boarded Jeffrey Epstein’s plane. Kimmel referred to Epstein as a former close friend of the president. Trump previously claimed he removed Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort because the late financier was a whack job.
Kimmel argued that this explanation did not align with previous statements. He noted that Trump once said he kicked Epstein out for hiring away spa staff. The president recalled telling Epstein to stop after the second occurrence of this behavior. Kimmel concluded that the true reason for Epstein’s departure was his poaching of massage staff. The host stated that this action led to Epstein’s removal from the resort.
The president’s recent public appearances have included these interactions with the press and audience members. The cancellation of the Kansas rally was part of a pattern of schedule changes this month. The midterm elections will determine the composition of the House and Senate for the next two years.
