Newington Library Launches Mystery Book Club: Format Confusion
The Lucy Robbins Welles Library opens registration for Crime & Cardigans, but its event page contains contradictory details about whether the meeting is in person or virtual.

The Lucy Robbins Welles Library in Newington will hold the first meeting of its new Crime & Cardigans club on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Friends of the Library sponsor the program, which targets adults interested in mystery media.
The library began accepting registrations on Saturday, Oct. 24. The event page listed 13 available seats at the time of the announcement. Participants must provide a name, email address, and phone number to register. The form also includes a field for assistive technology needs.
The initial gathering is described as a casual meet-and-greet for amateur sleuths. Attendees will play a trivia game and discuss potential topics for future sessions. The library suggests books, podcasts, and documentaries as possible subjects for the club.
A discrepancy exists in the event listing regarding the meeting format. The page labels the event as in person, specifying the Community Room as the location. However, a conflicting notice on the same page describes the event as online and states that a link will be emailed after registration.
The library has not clarified which format applies to the Nov. 12 date. Attendees who registered may receive an email with a link, or they may arrive at the Community Room without one. The next step for the group is the Nov. 12 meeting, where members will plan future gatherings.
