A Frost Advisory is currently active in the Portland area until 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Clearing skies allowed temperatures to fall into the 30s overnight, bringing a chilly start to the weekend.

Weather forecasters at KPTV report that Halloween will be mostly dry and mild. Skies will begin sunny but gradually become cloudier from the south as the day progresses. The chance of rain during candy-gathering hours is less than 10 percent. Temperatures are expected to range between 45 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

This dry spell contrasts sharply with the wet conditions recorded earlier in the month. Portland has now surpassed two inches of rainfall for October, a milestone forecasters did not expect a week ago. The increased precipitation earlier in the month has set a different tone for the season compared to last year, when rain arrived at 6:00 p.m. on Halloween night.

Daylight Saving Time ends early Sunday morning, giving residents an extra hour of sleep. Sunsets in Portland will shift into the 4:00 p.m. hour. Sunday is forecast to be sunny and seasonable, with high temperatures reaching the mid-50s.

The first week of November is expected to remain dry through at least Wednesday. A narrow high-pressure ridge will keep highs in the upper 50s and low 60s with mixed sun and clouds.

Forecasters note uncertainty for the second half of the week due to a cutoff low-pressure system. If the system separates from the jet stream and moves south, the dry weather will persist. If it stays north, light showers are possible.

Residents can monitor these conditions through the FOX 12 Weather App for the latest updates.
