Sioux Falls police responded to a reported stabbing on Eighth Street and Indiana Avenue shortly after 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. Two individuals were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following the incident, which occurred in the area east of downtown.
Sgt. Aaron Benson stated that a 33-year-old man called emergency services to report being stabbed in the neck during an altercation. The victim described the suspect as a man wearing black pants and a black shirt. Police noted that the suspect fled the scene in a gray SUV. First responders discovered a second victim at the scene, whom they believe was also stabbed by the same individual.
Investigators located the gray SUV at a residence near West 12th Street and Melrose Place, approximately five miles from the crime scene. Benson confirmed that all involved parties have been identified and located, though the investigation continues.
Officials addressed online rumors claiming a sheriff's deputy was among the victims. Benson stated the information was inaccurate and did not come from any law enforcement source. He explained that the claim likely arose from misinterpreted scanner traffic and was shared on social media without verification by official channels.
