Russian security officials detained a minor on Sunday after receiving intelligence from the United States regarding a planned terrorist attack in Moscow.
The Federal Security Service, or FSB, confirmed the detention in a statement reported by Interfax. The agency said the US provided details about the preparations through established partner channels on Saturday. Officials responded by closing Tsaritsyno, a palace museum and park complex in southern Moscow, as a precaution.
The suspect shared images on TikTok that fueled the concern. The photos showed him wearing tactical clothing and a balaclava while holding an object resembling an automatic weapon. Other pictures were taken at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve with the caption: “I found a place.” The FSB stated they are grateful to the American side for providing the information.
Investigators searched the minor’s home and recovered the specific clothes and accessories seen in the social media posts. His phone contained a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel on Telegram. The device also held a large number of searches for terrorist attacks and mass killings, according to the security service. Russia’s Investigative Committee is currently reviewing the case to determine the appropriate legal or procedural action to take.
