Drake Maye finished with 199 passing yards and a rushing touchdown as the New England Patriots erased a 10-point second-quarter deficit to defeat the Miami Dolphins 24-19 on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Patriots trailed 13-3 at the half after an 11-play, 70-yard drive by Miami that culminated in a one-yard touchdown reception by Malik Washington. Washington had briefly left the game after a hard hit from Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss but returned to score his first receiving touchdown of the season. Zane Gonzalez added field goals of 31 and 52 yards for Miami, though he missed a 43-yard attempt in the fourth quarter.

New England, playing without star receiver AJ Brown due to lingering injuries, outscored Miami 21-0 in the second half. Maye completed 16 of 20 passes and led a sequence that gave the Patriots a 17-13 lead. DeMario Douglas caught a 48-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 17-13. Maye then faked a handoff to Rhamondre Stevenson and ran in a two-yard score with 59 seconds left in the third quarter, marking his fifth consecutive game with at least three total touchdowns.

A controversial play shifted momentum late in the third. Maye lofted a 43-yard pass to Kyle Williams, which was initially ruled an incompletion after Williams' knee jarred the ball loose. Coach Mike Vrabel challenged the call, and officials overturned it to a touchdown after replays showed Williams crossed the goal line before losing possession.

Miami mounted a late rally. Malik Willis completed 21 of 32 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns while being sacked five times. With two minutes left, Willis threw a 35-yard touchdown to rookie Kevin Coleman Jr., trimming the deficit to 24-19. Stevenson recovered an onside kick after Miami's failed two-point attempt, and New England controlled the clock to secure the win.

Stevenson finished with 19 carries for 82 yards, and Douglas added three receptions for 76 yards. The Dolphins, who improved to 1-6, saw second-year running back Ollie Gordon removed from the game after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The Patriots, now 5-3, will host Green Bay next Sunday, while Miami will host Detroit.

Injury reports indicated Patriots tight end Hunter Henry left in the second quarter with a foot injury and linebacker Gabe Jacas exited in the third with a knee issue. Dolphins edge rusher Malik Herring left in the second quarter with a stringer but returned in the third.
