Kalshi, a prediction market regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, is promoting a discount code that provides new users with a $55 bonus. The offer applies to accounts that place trades totaling $25 or more. This promotion coincides with the NFL Week 8 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers, scheduled for Thursday night at Lambeau Field.
Both teams are attempting to recover from recent defeats. The Panthers entered the Week 8 slate as a strong contender in the NFC South before falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In that 34-13 loss, the Buccaneers recorded 258 rushing yards and four takeaways. The Packers also suffered a setback, losing 20-17 on the road to the Detroit Lions in the previous week despite defeating the Bucs, Bears, and Cowboys earlier in the season.
Current trading prices on Kalshi reflect the odds for the game. A share in a Packers victory costs $0.65, while a share in a Panthers victory costs $0.36. The market also offers contracts on the total points scored. Shares for the combined score to be fewer than 48.5 points are priced at $0.53, while shares for a score over 49 points are priced at $0.48.
The statistical context for the matchup centers on the performance of each team's run defense. The Packers allow an NFL-high average of 153.2 rushing yards per game. Conversely, the Panthers allow the sixth fewest passing yards but struggle against the ground game. Running back Josh Jacobs returned to the Packers lineup last week, rushing for 91 yards and one touchdown. He faces a Carolina defense that has permitted high rushing totals, while Carolina running back Chuba Hubbard was limited to 33 yards against Tampa Bay after carrying 326 yards in the three games prior.
Quarterback Jordan Love of Green Bay threw for 274 yards in his last appearance, bringing his season total to 1,958 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. Wide receivers Christian Watson and Matthew Golden have combined for 1,107 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. For the Panthers, quarterback Bryce Young was held to 163 passing yards and two interceptions by Tampa Bay, a sharp drop from his previous five games where he averaged at least 280 yards per outing.
The SportsLine Projection Model, referenced in the analysis of the game, predicts the combined score will stay under 48 points in 56% of its simulations. The model assigns a 72% probability to a Green Bay victory on their home turf. These projections align with the current market pricing where the under is trading at $0.53.
