The Seminary Bulldogs defeated the Magee Trojans 35-7 on Thursday night to claim the Class 3A Region 6 championship. This victory marks the first regional title for the Bulldogs since 2018.
The contest decided the district’s top seed. Both teams entered the matchup with identical records in district play and one loss on the season. Each squad arrived on a six-game winning streak. Seminary extended its streak to seven victories heading into the playoffs.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring following a blocked punt. JJ McKines took a handoff and ran straight up the middle to punch the ball into the end zone from the two-yard line. Magee responded later in the game when Zyrenzo Hayes intercepted a tipped pass. Hayes returned the interception to the eight-yard line. He also tied the score at 7-7 after catching a quick pass and diving over the goal line.
Seminary regained the lead when Braxton Barnett found a lane and ran into the end zone. The Bulldogs’ defense created another scoring opportunity after stripping the ball from Bryson Caffie. BJ Owens recovered the fumble, setting up the next Seminary touchdown.
