Anton Lundell scored three goals to lead the Florida Panthers to a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night. The win marks Florida's sixth success in its last eight contests.
Seth Jones contributed a goal and two assists to finish October with 18 points. The defenseman surpassed Keith Yandle's 2018 record for most points by a Florida defender in a single month, which stood at 17. Sam Reinhart also scored for the Panthers.
Winnipeg dropped both games in its recent home-and-home series with Florida. The Jets are now winless in their last eight games, with a record of 0-6-2. Kyle Connor scored his 11th goal of the season for Winnipeg. Morgan Barron scored the team's third goal in the third period, but Lundell's second goal of the night restored Florida's two-goal lead.
Lundell completed his hat trick with an empty-net goal with 1:39 remaining. It is the fifth hat trick for Florida this season. Akira Schmid made 22 saves for the Panthers.
Florida played without injured forwards Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand. Coach Paul Maurice said Marchand could return in about three weeks and Barkov in about four. Both players resumed skating this week.
Bokondji Imama of Florida and Tyrel Bauer of Winnipeg fought just two minutes and four seconds into the game. The two exchanged blows for more than a minute, mirroring their previous fight in the AHL in 2024. They exchanged a nod when the brawl ended. Florida has played only three home games this season, the fewest in the league. The Panthers host Detroit on Monday, while the Jets travel to Carolina on Sunday.
