The Homewood Patriots conclude their regular season on Friday, Oct. 30, by hosting the Oak Mountain Eagles at 7 p.m. at Waldrop Stadium. The game marks the final regular season matchup for the Patriots, who currently hold an 8-1 record.

Homewood secured its Class 5A Region 4 title during its previous contest against Ramsay. That victory came on a 42-yard field goal by Jozy Hicks, as the Patriots defense limited the Rams to 122 total yards. The team enters Friday's game looking to finish its season strong before moving to the postseason.

Oak Mountain enters the matchup with a 2-7 record. The Eagles lost 42-0 to Thompson the previous week, though they maintained strong offensive control during that defeat. Oak Mountain running back Kentrell Tolbert rushed for 146 yards on 27 carries in that game. The Eagles held the ball for 28 minutes and seven seconds, outplaying Thompson on clock control despite the score.

The two teams last met in 2011, when Homewood won 14-7. Oak Mountain currently leads the all-time series against Homewood, 4-2. Following Friday's game, the Eagles' season will conclude. Homewood will host Theodore in the first round of the playoffs next week.

In the other local Friday night game, the John Carroll Cavaliers (4-5) host the Leeds Lakers (7-1) at 7 p.m. at Pat Sullivan Field. Leeds has won seven consecutive games and enters the postseason as the stronger side. John Carroll lost 25-21 to Randolph the previous week after leading 21-10 early in the fourth quarter.

John Carroll holds a 19-10-1 advantage in the all-time series against Leeds, including a 34-33 victory in 2019. The Cavaliers will travel to Randolph for their first playoff round game next week, while Leeds hosts Brooks.
